Located in Burbank, CA, the Senior Artist Colony is designed with creative types aged 55 and up in mind. It’s not absolutely required that you be an artist to live there, but you should expect to be around a lot of them if you do!

In addition to many of the standard amenities, like a fitness center and internet, they also offer art studios, a video and film editing lab, and a movie theatre and projection room. They offer classes for things like painting, Poetry in Motion, and anti-aging exercises as well.

While many independent living communities offer activities for the residents to do together, Senior Artist Colony’s schedule is packed with the kind of activities that their residents are most likely to appreciate, like shows of live entertainment put on in the Performance Theater and the option to participate in the Colony Choir.

Reviewers of the Senior Artist Colony speak fondly of all the activities they provide on site and how nice it is to live in a building filled with the artwork of fellow residents. They also mention many of the same things that come up in reviews of other senior living communities – a convenient location, that it’s pet friendly, and the full kitchen available in the apartments, just to name a few specifics. Residents get the same amenities and services typically associated with independent living, but with a few special perks related to art appreciation and artistic expression besides.

If you’ve loved art all your life, then being surrounded by it (and by other people who love it) as you age can make a big difference in your quality of life. And the Senior Artist Colony is also located in downtown Burbank, making it close to many of the entertainment and shopping options locals to the LA area appreciate. Residents can get plenty of culture within their community while still tapping into as much of the culture outside of it as they’d like.
