Where Are American Families The Most Outspoken About Their Senior Care Choices?

Senior Living Locations With The Most Online Reviews Written By Residents and Families [Infographic] SeniorAdvisor.com

In a previous post, we discussed the emerging presence of a review culture in the senior living space. Last week, we took a look at which senior living communities care most about customer feedback – that is, which ones read and respond most frequently to the online reviews written by their current and potential families and residents?

This week, we are shifting our focus from the community management and staff to the people who make up these communities – the residents and families themselves. As people tend to tour multiple communities before choosing one, there are ultimately more reviews by customers who tour, than by customers who live, at communities.

These residents and their families tend to rate their communities 8% higher than people who tour, with the average overall rating for community reviews written by residents or loved ones being 4.2 stars out of 5. Reviews by residents and family members are more positive on average, which makes sense, given that they chose these communities above the others they toured. So, where are these families the happiest? In other words, in what cities and states are families most vocal about how much they love their communities? Perhaps even more interesting – which senior living organizations tend to have the the most satisfied customers overall?

I am a volunteer at Village At Manor Park located in West Allis, Wisconsin. This community offers independent living, assisted living, skilled nursing, and rehabilitation all in the same complex. There is a very active group of people in the independent living sections who are involved in a number of activities inside the complex and a group of people from outside the complex in the surrounding are that comes in for activities offered inside the complex and out side excursions.

People in the complex seem very happy and a number of them have been living in the complex for a number of years (some as long as 15 to 20 years).

I was surprised that it was not listed in the Wisconsin group.

Hi Judith, thanks for your comment. I see that there is currently only 1 review for Village at Manor Park – that’s why it didn’t make the list. Why not encourage some of the residents to write reviews and share their positive experiences?
